Find files
Sometimes you may need to find a file but you don't know the path to
it. CP has a special feature for this purpose:
1) Select the "Find file" item in the "File" menu.
2) Press the keys [Shift-F7].
3) Press and hold the key [Shift], move the mouse cursor to the line
"F7 Find file" in the prompt panel and press the mouse left button.
The following menu appears on the screen:
+-----File search------+

Global search
Current disk
Recurse subdirs
This directory
Substring ...
Parameters ...
Last found files
+----------------------+
In this menu you can select where to search: on all non-removable
disks, on the current disk, in the current directory or in its
subdirectories. After selecting the needed item press [Enter]. You should
type in the name of the file(s) to be found in the panel that appears on the
screen:
+--Enter search mask---+

*.*

+----------------------+
When specifying the name of the file(s) you may use the menu for
editing lines in panels and the wildcard characters "?" and "*". After you
specify the filename(s) and press [Enter], the program begins to search for
the file(s) in the place you have pointed out. If no such files are found,
the "File not found" error message will be issued. If at least one file is
found, the list of all files matching the pattern is displayed on the screen
with the total number of the files found and their total size displayed at
the bottom of the table. Using the arrow keys you can select the file you
need and press [Enter] to make CP switch to the directory containing this
file.
Substring ...
The "File search" menu has a feature of context search for files, i.e.
the search for files containing a specific string. To invoke this feature
select the "Substring..." item in the "File search" menu. A panel appears on
the screen where you can select search mode - ASCII or HEX:
+----Substring search----+

ASCII sequence
HEX sequence
[ ] Case-sensitive
Leave menu
+------------------------+
In this panel you can switch on/off "Case sensitive" search option by
pressing [Enter].
After selecting a search mode and pressing [Enter] a panel appears on
the screen where you should type in an ASCII or HEX search string according
to the selected mode. When entering the string you may use the menu for
editing lines in panels. After you enter the string and press [Enter] you
should select the "Leave menu" item to return to the main menu where you
should select the search area. Then you should specify a pattern for files
to be searched for. The pattern is specified using the procedure similar to
that when you search for a file (see above). After you press [Enter], CP
will search for the specified string in the specified files and the
specified area.
Search parameters
Before specifying file search area it is possible to set search
parameters (item "P - Search parameters..." in the main Search file menu),
limiting search conditions:
+---------Search parameters-------------+

1 after date [ ]
2 before date [ ]
3 minimal length [ ]
4 maximal length [ ]
( ) File is Hidden
( ) File isn't Hidden
( ) File is Archive
( ) File isn't Archive
( ) File is System
( ) File isn't System
( ) File is Read only
( ) File isn't Read only
Leave menu
+---------------------------------------+
When you select the first four items, a panel is diplayed where you
should input the file date or size. To finish the input press [Enter] and
the specified data will be displayed in brackets in the parameters window.
To search for files having specific attributes (or except them) mark the
corresponding item with the help of [Enter]. After setting parameters select
item "Leave menu" to return to the File search menu.
Last found files
If you want to call up the list of files which were found during the
last search again select the "Last found files" item in the "Search file"
menu.
