Unerase files
The Unerase module of CP allows the user to restore accidentally
deleted files and directories. This feature is invoked by pressing the keys
[Alt-F10].
The list of all deleted files and relevant information: the full size,
the date of file creation, and the file status are disp- layed. The size
column does not contain the size of a directory. It has the word "DIR"
instead of it. If the number of detected files is too big, you may scroll
through the panel using the "Up" and "Down" arrow keys. If there are no
deleted files in the current directory, the message "No files" appears on
the screen.
You may select the unerase mode menu by pressing [Ctrl-S]. The menu
contains three items:
-"Fast unerase",
-"Manual unerase",
-"Directory unerase".
Press [Enter] and then [Esc] to change unerase mode. To change a
directory you should place the selection bar on it and press [Enter].
Press [Ctrl-D] to change drive. To restore a file place the selection
bar onto the desired file using arrow keys and hit [Enter]. When in the fast
unerase mode a panel appears on the screen where you should enter the first
character of the unerased file name and then press the key [Enter].
Notice: If you are running PTS-DOS, the first character will be introduced
automatically, provided you have added to your CONFIG.SYS
(CONFIG.PTS) the following option: SAVENAME=ON.
When in the "manual" or "directory unerasing" mode, the following menu
appears on the screen after you press [Enter]:
+-------------------------------------------------------+
| Manual unerase |
+-------------------------------------------------------+

The manual unerasing menu contains the following items:
-"Add",
-"Unerase",
-"Next",
-"Previous",
-"EOF",
-"Exit".
This menu also provides information on the number of needed and
unerased clusters, as well as the number of current cluster. You can scroll
through the current cluster using the keys [PgUp] and [PgDn]. You may go to
next or previous cluster selecting the item "Next" or "Previous"
respectively.
To unerase the current cluster select the item "Unerase". After you
unerased all clustars select the item "EOF" if there is no need to add
clusters. To cancel unerasing select the item "Exit".
The item "Add" is available only if you unerased all clusters. Using
this option you can add the next free cluster to the unerased file.
The Unerase module of CP allows you to unerase directories. Here are
some recommendations: if a directory contained less than 40 files it is
possible to unerase them using the fast unerase mode. Otherwise, you should
use the "directory unerase" mode.
To quit the program use the keys [Esc] or [F10].
