                     BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT LotLAN

PTS-DOS includes support of a local network.
Local network operating system has been developed to support peer-to-peer
local network using NETBIOS Protocol and LAN Redirector program. The
network can comprise several servers and several work stations or several
servers only. Only 16-20 Kb of memory is needed at work station (including
NETBIOS driver). For the server 25 Kb of memory space is required at least,
depending on its configuration (buffers' size, use of XMS/EMS, etc). The
software imposes no restrictions on the network hardware topology. In other
words, if you have appropriate NETBIOS drivers, a network can be setup with
any hardware and any topology.

LOTLAN is compatible with PTS-DOS version 5.0 and higher, MS-DOS
version 5.0 and higher, DOS standard programs. Maximum compatibility with
DOS and WINDOWS makes LOTLAN network the easiest to use with the most
popular software (databases, spread sheets, etc).
