LotLAN ERROR MESSAGES

                 SERVER.COM and REDIR.COM ERROR MESSAGES

1."SHARE must be installed previously"

Displayed when you try to start SERVER.COM program without loading
SHARE.EXE.

Recommendation: Start SHARE.EXE program.

2. "This name is already used by other adapter"

This message is displayed if you try to load the server or work station
already loaded with the name you use.

Recommendation: When starting SERVER.COM or REDIR.COM programs use
                another name.

3. "Cannot allocate Expanded memory block"

This message appears if you specify /EMS option in a command line while
there is no free EMS memory.

Recommendation: Either quit the option or set free 16 Kb of Expanded
                memory space.

4."EMS driver is not installed"

You are using option /EMS with no EMS memory driver installed.

Recommendation: Install appropriate EMS driver, or do not use EMS option.

5. "Cannot allocate Extended memory"

The message comes if you input /XMS option in the command line while
there is no free XMS memory.

Recommendation: Do not use the option or set free 8Kb of XMS memory.

6. "XMS driver is not installed"

You are trying to use /XMS option without XMS driver.

Recommendation: Install XMS driver or remove the option.

7. "SDA is in HMA."

This mistake occurs only under PTS-DOS when DOS data are stored in higher
memory (HMA). In such case the server program might work incorrect.

Recommendation: Use WINDOWS=ON command in PTS-DOS configuration file.

8. "Not enough memory"

Recommendation: Do not start resident programs which need much memory.

9. "Machine name must be specified".

The message comes if you did not mention any parameters when starting
SERVER.COM or REDIR.COM commands.

Recommendation: see the chapter about starting SERVER.COM or REDIR.COM.

10."NETBIOS driver not installed"

You are trying to start SERVER.COM or REDIR.COM programs without first
starting  NETBIOS driver or you might have loaded incompatible NETBIOS
driver by mistake.

Recommendation: Start NETBIOS driver.


                         NET.EXE ERROR MESSAGES

1. "LOTLAN SERVER or REDIRECTOR not installed"

You are trying to start NET.EXE program without starting server or work
stations application (SERVER.COM or REDIR.COM).

Recommendation: Start SERVER.COM or REDIR.COM.

2. "Invalid printer name"

In NET SHARE command you have specified the wrong printer name (different
from LPT).

3."Invalid printer number"

In NET SHARE you have stated a wrong printer number (different from LPT1
- LPT3).

4."You should increase LASTDRIVE number in CONFIG.SYS file"

You are trying to redirect the local drive with the name which is beyond
LASTDRIVE number. Example: LASTDRIVE=H but you are trying to redirect
drive L:  NET USE L: \\SERVER.

Recommendation: Increase the LASTDRIVE parameter or use another local drive.

5."Cannot redirect non-physical drive".

You are trying to redirect the drive which is already used by SUBST
application or has been redirected to serve as the network drive.

Recommendation: Use another local drive.
