                      FOLDER-disk creation options

FOLDER-disks can be created both on hard and floppy disks (diskettes).
To create a FOLDER-disk the FCREA utility is used.

The host-disk can be empty or contain information. The whole disk can
be used or only available free space (or a part of free space).

In the process of FOLDER-disk creating on the whole disk the data
present in the initial disk will be COMPRESSED and re-written in a
COMPRESSED state. To achieve this certain free space is required on the
host-disk. The size of such free space depends on the initial disk size, as
well as on what creating parameters are chosen. If there is no enough free
space the system will display the appropriate message on the screen, and
the FOLDER-disk creating will be suspended.

Before creating a FOLDER-disk you should check logical structures of
your host-disk with CHKDSK Utility enclosed in the PTS-DOS package or any
other similar utility of the Norton Disk Doctor type. Besides, you have to
defragment the disk using either COMPDISK facility enclosed in PTS-FOLDER
package or any other similar utility, like Norton Utilities' SPEED DISK or
PCTools' COMPRESS.

The FCREA utility determines the size of free available space
for FOLDER-disk and prompts you to specify, what part of free space you
want to use for a FOLDER-disk. When creating a FOLDER-disk on a free
space of the host-disk, the data already existing on the host-disk WILL
NOT be transferred to the created FOLDER-disk and will stay unaffected.
